Back in 2018, I was fat, sickly, in pain, and EXHAUSTED…
By sheer miracle, and a few small lifestyle changes, I lost 43kgs and transformed into a completely different person…
Everyone wanted to know how I did that and at first, I couldn’t answer them, because I forgot about all the small (seemingly insignificant) lifestyle changes I had made to facilitate this miraculous weight loss.
It took a lot of thinking, but the answers came, and now, I’m ready to share them ALL with you in my new book series:
43 to Fabulous!
I believe that DIETING is the biggest enemy to healthy(ish) sustainable and EASY weightloss…
Why? Because dieting is STRESSFUL.
Stress causes cortisol to build up in your body. Cortisol leads to ALL the symptoms above:
- aches and pains
- bloating around the tummy and face
- fatigue
- and much more…
Same shirt, different day…
And I like (cooking and eating lots of) good food…
I will only eat salad if it comes on the side of a good steak or grilled fish—because I’m not a rabbit!
And I will NEVER EVER turn down a good cake, chocolate or coffee. It’s just not going to happen… (unless I’m fasting for spiritual reasons).
- But I wanted to fit into denim shorts.
- I wanted to live a long, healthy life.
- I NEEDED more energy.
- I needed sleep desperately.
So the journey towards an EASY, EFFECTIVE, and HOLISTIC method for losing the stubborn weight started.
It took a lot of research. Trial and error. And GRIT (not the kind the Americans eat—yum!—, but rather the one Merriam Webster defines as “firmness of mind or spirit : unyielding courage in the face of hardship or danger.”
I’m not going to lie and say I made no changes… But they were SO SUBTLE that when people ask me “How did you lose 43kgs (and counting)?”, I sometimes answer “I don’t know! It was MAGIC!”.
It happened through:
- A range of healthy, easy, effective lifestyle changes (which you should be doing even if you’re skinny and healthy)
- Food swaps. (SPOILER: eating LOTS of fat instead of low fat—eeewwww!!!)
- Incorporating mental health practices into my life.
Yes, I know you’ve tried all of that… We’ve all read the books, tried the diets, attended the workshops and none of it worked.
